What do accounting APIs cost?
Most accounting platforms charge app developers nothing for API access. Of the 48 platforms Apideck tracks, 39 have no fee to connect. Two charge by usage: QuickBooks Online, by read calls through the Intuit App Partner Program, and Xero, by connected organisations and data downloaded. A few charge a fixed fee, such as Sage Intacct (marketplace partner program), Exact Online (developer subscription) and SnelStart (permanent production key after certification).
17 platforms must approve or certify an app before it goes live. The fees are paid by the application owner, are separate from the end customer’s own subscription, and apply whether you build each integration yourself or use a unified API.

Questions
How much does the Xero API cost?
Xero charges app developers by the number of connected organisations and the data the app downloads each month (egress). Starter is free for up to 5 connections. Paid tiers are Core USD 25, Plus USD 145, Advanced USD 895 a month, tax exclusive, with USD 1.5 per GB above each tier's allowance. Above 10,000 connections, Enterprise is priced on application. Sending data to Xero is free. Xero publishes its own price list per currency: in euros the paid tiers are EUR 25, EUR 145, EUR 845 a month, with EUR 1.45 per GB.
How much does the QuickBooks Online API cost?
Intuit charges through the Intuit App Partner Program, and only for read calls that pull data out of QuickBooks (CorePlus calls); write calls are free. The Builder tier is free up to 500k read calls a month, and calls above that are blocked. Paid tiers are Silver USD 300, Gold USD 1,700, Platinum USD 4,500 a month, each with included calls and a per-1,000-call rate above them. Gold needs at least 500 active connections and Platinum 3,000.
What does Sage Intacct charge for API access?
Sage Intacct requires its Marketplace Partner Program. The fee is USD 2,500 a year, which includes about 66,666 API calls a month (a USD 1,000 monthly credit at USD 0.015 a call). Higher volumes are agreed with Sage. Sage confirmed these figures to Apideck in October 2026; it does not publish them.
Which accounting platforms charge nothing for API access?
39 of the 48 platforms on this page charge app developers nothing to connect, including NetSuite, Dynamics 365 Business Central, Zoho Books, FreshBooks, FreeAgent, Moneybird, Lexware Office. Your customers still pay for their own subscription, and some platforms need a plan with API access, such as Odoo Custom, Lexware Office XL or sevDesk Buchhaltung Pro.
Which accounting platforms must approve an app before it can use the API?
17 of the 48 platforms require approval, a developer program or certification before an app goes live, including QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage Intacct, Exact Online, SnelStart, DATEV Unternehmen online, Twinfield, MRI Software, Access Financials. Others offer optional programs for a marketplace listing or co-marketing, such as SuiteCloud Developer Network (NetSuite), Microsoft ISV Success (Dynamics 365 Business Central) and SAP PartnerEdge Build. Those are not needed for API access.
Who pays accounting platform API fees?
The application owner: the company that registers its app with the accounting platform and holds the developer agreement. The platform bills that company directly, whichever integration provider it uses. These fees are separate from what end customers pay for their accounting subscription and from Apideck’s own pricing.
Does a unified API remove accounting platform fees?
No. Platform fees are charged by the accounting platform for API access, so they apply whether you build each integration yourself or use a unified API like Apideck. What a unified API removes is the engineering: one integration instead of one per platform, with authentication, data mapping and maintenance handled for you.
Can my app be listed on Xero, QuickBooks and other app marketplaces if I integrate through Apideck?
Yes. With Apideck you register your own app with each platform, such as a Xero app or an Intuit Developer app, and Apideck connects through it. The listing is your app, under your name and brand. Apideck does not appear to your customers: the connection screen is white-label, and the OAuth redirect can run on your own domain, which certification programs such as Xero’s ask for. Some marketplaces only list apps built on the platform itself, such as NetSuite SuiteApps or Business Central extensions on Microsoft AppSource; a connection through an API does not produce that package, so check each marketplace’s listing rules.
Who holds the developer agreement and certification with each platform?
You do. The app owner is the registered developer with each platform, holds the OAuth client credentials, accepts the platform’s terms and goes through its review. Apideck does not hold developer agreements or certifications on your behalf. 17 of the 48 platforms on this page require approval or certification before an app goes live; the price index on this page shows which, and what each charges.
Can customers install my app from a vendor marketplace and connect through Apideck?
Yes. A marketplace listing points to a launch or sign-up URL in your app, for example the Launch URL in an Intuit app’s settings. From that page your app opens the Apideck connection flow, the customer authorizes your app on the platform, and Apideck stores and refreshes the tokens. The same flow serves customers who start from inside your product.
What does a marketplace listing add in cost and time?
The platform’s own partner fees, listed on this page, are the main cost, and they are paid to the platform whether or not you use a unified API. Time goes mostly into each platform’s review: QuickBooks requires the App Assessment Questionnaire and a security review before an app is listed, and Xero reviews the app with live customer connections before certifying it. Building the integration itself is the part a unified API shortens.
How current are these prices?
Every figure comes from the platform itself: its own pricing page, terms or developer documentation, linked in the table, or a written confirmation from the platform where it does not publish the figure. Each row shows the date it was last checked; the latest check was on 16 Oct 2026. Currency conversion uses the European Central Bank reference rate of the day.
How we keep this current
- Each figure comes from the platform itself: its own pricing page, terms or developer docs, or a written confirmation where the platform does not publish it.
- Each row shows the date it was last checked. We recheck every quarter and whenever a platform announces a change.
- Currencies use the European Central Bank reference rate of 28 Oct 2026, refreshed daily.

Fees are set and charged by the platforms, not by Apideck, and Apideck accepts no liability for differences between these estimates and what a platform charges you.
